Cronos Labs Launches Public zkEVM Testnet Using zkSync's ZK Stack Technology
Cronos Labs has launched the Cronos zkEVM testnet, a zero-knowledge layer-2 roll-up network on the Ethereum Sepolia testnet. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving Cronos Labs, Matter Labs (the team behind zkSync), and engineering teams from stakeholders like Crypto.com and dApp developers.
The zkEVM testnet leverages zkSync’s new open-source prover, Boojum, which is a STARK-based zero-knowledge proof system known for its low hardware requirements and low fees in the layer-2 rollup space. The mainnet launch is anticipated in Q2 2024.
